Collection Instructions Allow blood to clot at room temperature for 30 minutes. Centrifuge and separate the serum from cells immediately. Alternatively, collect blood in a gel barrier tube, allow to clot at room temperature, centrifuge and remove from gel within 24 hours.

Collect fresh stool in sterile, leak-proof container without media, preservative or metal ion. For patients requiring the use of diapers, first line the diaper with clean plastic to prevent absorption. Then transfer 5 g or 5 mL of stool specimen from the plastic lined diaper to the sterile container. Do not submit the diaper itself. Cap securely.

Carefully clean skin prior to venipuncture. Avoid worksite collection. Avoid hemolysis. Use the royal blue-top "Trace Metal" evacuated tube, which is available with EDTA, heparin or no additives. Do not use gel barrier tubes. Centrifuge serum or plasma specimens within 1 hour of collection. Immediately separate serum and plasma specimens from the cells into trace element collection vial(s).

Collection Instructions Proper specimen collection, storage and shipment are critical for serotonin whole blood analysis. Strict adherence to the following specimen collection instructions will ensure the most meaningful results. 1. Draw blood into the EDTA 7.2-mg Vacutainer? tube. 2. After drawing the blood, mix well and immediately transfer all blood to the enclosed container, which contains 35 mg of ascorbic acid. 3. Mix well and freeze immediately. 4. Ship frozen. Expiration date for ascorbic acid container is the same as the EDTA tube provided in the kit.
